I went to a local veneer dealer to pick up some figured veneer for an instrument I'm working on. I got to talking with the owner and he asks if I ever use figured woods like koa or claro walnut. I said I did, so he walks outside the door and grabs a huge chunk of koa that is the flair that was cut off the butt of the trunk and hands it to me. He also says that the guy that slices his veneer has started sending everything back on the backer boards and would I like to have them? Hopefully, he is going to call me next week about coming over to sort through his backer boards.
