Anyone know of a clip somewhere with a bass uke? I see Musicguymic has one on Ebay that looks truly amazing. Item 250288557858. It's got a pickup like a turner guitar and it's a lined fretless.

All I'm pulling up in youtube is the Ashbory but I'd love to see this Road Toad in action.

Wow THANKS Mike. That thing is really awesome. My eyes about popped out of my head and I can't believe the sound of it!

You gotta get a good bass amp for it though!!! You can't play these acoustically.

This Acoustic amp is an excellent amp for the money - $150 - but it sure ain't portable...

If you can spend the bucks, about $230, the Roland Micro Bass is very cool, protable, and run on AC or DC power.

There's also an excellent headphone amp for bass - the Vox amPlug Bass for $50 - very small, almost pocketsize. Runs on batteries. Super lightweight.
I haven't tried the bass version, but I love the Vox Amplug AC30 for guitars. Not very many places have the Bass amPlug yet, but sweetwater does.

Also, a bass EQ pedal can really help you define your bass tone. For $70 you can get the best bass EQ out there - the Boss:
