This has been discussed before, but I was asked the question today.
"So you play the ukulele, are you any good?"
My response: "I entertain the hell out of myself."
Probably not original, but it makes sense to me.

Tell em you're a "plunker"...Works out well every time. But your response is good too.
 
I remember years ago I was mentioning to my new pastor (we'd moved into the city and changed churches) about the little bluegrass gospel combo that I'd been roped into leading for a while in our old town. He asked, "You any good?" I answered, "Well, no one ever threw anything at us." I didn't, however, mention that we mostly played to geriatrics in the nursing homes... LOL

I suppose it's not uncommon but it's like an introduction where you say "I work at a hospital" and the other person says "you any good" -- my tendency would be to reply "haven't killed anyone this week" <g>. More typically I get the "really, you don't play guitar?" comment to which I always reply, "four strings are all I can handle"
 
My standard reply is, "depends on who's listening."
