I set down my new KPK Concert today on the table and noticed that it doesn't lay flat, that there was a slight uniform bulge on the wider part of the body on the back. Is that supposed to be like that? There's about less than an 1/8" gap from the table to the top back.

If you mean that the back is uniformly "bowed" or "arched", that would be quite natural. Many, if not most ukes have an "arched" back. Here's a link to one of UU's more respected luthiers (known here as Timbuck) describing how he achieves an arched back on his Martin reproductions.

Hope this is what you meant! Mahalo!

"Slight uniform bulge," - the back of my KPK pineapple and every other uke I have meets your description. As an aside, don't lay your uke unattended on a flat tabletop and expect it to not move.

Absolutely by design! Pretty uke. Enjoy it, as its not deformed, it was "just made that way..."

Mahalo!

Mahalo for the advice everyone. So far we're learning a lot about each other. :)
