I'd like to find a Risa kidney bean tenor or concert w/single coil lipstick tube pickups. I have a Risa Les Paul and Kamoa Custom Evolve but both of those have humbucker pickups and I'm itching for some good old single coil sound to round out the herd.

If you have one you'd like to sell, give me a shout. I can pay cash or maybe trade something depending on what you would want to do.

Thanks folks...!!!

I have the red one! Just got it back from my luthier.....something caused the pick guard to dry out, all metal rusted. Had a whole new loaded pick guard, bridge and saddles from Risa installed with a new and improved 3 ply pickguard, set up, and new low g set of strings. Been considering selling or trading.....would be very interested in LP or Kamoa.

I bought mine about 6 years ago, rarely play it, but hesitant to sell it. I also had a LP, gorgeous sunburst deep cherry finish, but I preferred the tone of this one. Mine is a tenor with dual coil lipstick pickups. I think the soprano was the only single coil. Could be wrong.

Oh yeah, there is a switch that lets you choose top coil, bottom coil or both.

Single coils rule for my sense of sound. If you decide to sell it, send me a PM with a quote. Thanks.

That would be a hard sell. My first uke was a Bushman Jenny concert, given to me by John Hall. The first uke I bought was this Risa! It was motivation to learn to play! I have since bought and sold dozens before finally settling on the 5 acoustics I now have and the 2 Risa tenors. My other Risa is a tenor stick. Some of the ones I bought and later sold were pretty spectacular too, a couple of William Kings, some Martins, Ogata, Cole Clark, Gibson, Compass Rose, LoPrinzi and more, but I still have the Risa. However, occasionally I am stricken with a rare moment of responsibility and sell a few to pay down my credit card.

If you like single coils, check this out:

You can find them on eBay.

I've got one, and it's fabulous.
However, it's closer to Baritone size and the fretboard is wider than typical uke (a bit like classical guitar width, but tapered).

They feel and sound great.
I've got mine tuned DGBE, but I would imagine that GCEA tuning is not impossible with the right strings(?)

Hi Kissing,

Thanks for the link. I really want 2 pickups but I'll have to give this one a think for a while. It's very nice and I'll bet it sounds great.

Just double check whether GCEA is possible at that scale length, as I'm not entirely sure.
