Not real fancy, but sexy "cool" factor. My double soprano case with my Gold label Kamaka (Ozzie) and my 50's Martin style 2.

What's with the case(s) in the background? You must own a store or a real case collector :P

If there's a market, I might start making those. I reckon I could turn out one a day in summer. In winter it'd have to be red wine corks I'm afraid.

Where did you find the double case?

SU, here's a link to G&G Case.
http://www.ggqualitycase.com/custom.html

They make high quality hard cases. I have one of theirs for another instrument I have. They are top notch.

I also noticed that Elderly Instruments carries a double uke gig bag.

Just a couple thoughts for you.

Here are a couple of somewhat different looking cases. From what I understand, these are final prototypes for the new Southcoast Ukuleles & Guitars. These two, I believe, are for a Tenor (the "coffin") and Soprano (the oblong) Ukulele.

I’m hearing that a lot of work went into these shapes; that they add practically nothing in extra weight to that of a conventional design, and fit into almost all the spaces that a conventional case can go.

Seems that Southcoast needed to do custom cases since their instruments aren’t in standard layouts, but the unusual case shapes themselves are another story. Supposedly there is a very interesting reason for these shapes, but they won’t say what it is until the instruments are ready.

Looks like all the Southcoast cases have a nice accessory compartment.
I like the looks of some of the Kala and similar cases, but the compartment is hardly big enough for a tuner.

This is the handmade case that came with my Toby Chennell archtop uke. Incredibly well-made case, but I am not looking forward to trying to take it on a plane..

They are indeed Ameritage made. We've been working with them for quite awhile on this design. The sailor boy hit on the key for why we went to all this trouble:

Dirk, those are some fantastic looking cases. Definately a bigger storage compartment than what is in my current Ameritage cases. And I like the shoulder strap. Is Southcoast going to be selling those cases seperately?

Thanks dk,

The cases, "in this case" were almost as much work as the ukuleles (well, maybe not quite that much work, but a lot of work!).

We won't sell them separately, mainly because it's highly unlikely they'd be a good match for standard instruments. We really did our designs purely from scratch. The body sizes aren't quite the norm, and most of the models are longnecks.

That's why we needed true custom cases in the first place. Then, we had to come up with a a shape that would give us the big accessory compartment for our "top secret big standard accessory". Although, as it turns out, there'll be plenty of room left for other stuff.

Yes I did want to see handmade or custom built cases along with your sticker painted on or unusual case..commercial posters (yes I am one but try to stay away from self touting products) have sidetracked the thread to sell their wares...
Heres another gem and example of what i am looking for

There are some really neat handmade cases on Etsy. I don't sell any, but I have admired them. Just do a search for ukulele case and you'll see some made with Hawaiian postcards lacquered to them. There are also quite a few cute quilted soft-covered ones. I was looking for one of those for my son but they're all a little on the feminine side.

Aloha Mike,
Just returned to NorCal after a 5 1/2 month stay. As like my previous 5 month stay, I go uke shopping, i.e.; swap meets, Craigslist Maui, and pawn shops.......2 trips, 9 ukes.
Any way, on my last trip, I bought a Mele Mahogany Tenor from a pawn shop in Wailuku at a very good price, after haggling of course, but it didn't have a case. Half a block up is another pawn shop in which I found and bought a banjo or mandolin case which would fit the tenor uke. Beat up and ugly but for $10.00, why not.
Stopped at Walmart and bought some foam and a can of adhesive spray. Then stopped at a fabric store and bought some fuzzy material for the interior. Worked on it for a couple of hours and what you see, is what I got. Good enought to transport uke to NorCal. Oh, the case was made out of hard cardboard, I think...........................BO................ ...

Hahaha, that's the first thing I thought too! Sorry, I live in America's little Belgium of beers, Colorado.

I like the idea of lacquering interesting memorabilia to a case; was going to start a collage of sorts of "uke stuff", maybe my case shall be the medium. I'll post pictures if the idea is ever realized :)
