I've put Aquila Red C strings on four of my ukes with good results so far.

The focus has been on the low G's, but the Red C's could be worth a try for anybody who likes NylGuts on concerts or tenors.
The option is a slightly thinner C string with a good feel, maybe a little less tension and volume.

On my concert Fluke (high G), a NylGut C was the loudest string, the Red is more balanced.

My tenor six-string sounds and feels the best it ever has with a Red C and A.

My concert Epiphone Les Paul and Mitchell MU-70 are benefitting from red C's paired with low G's.

Anybody else using the C's?

anybody know a shop that has the reds in stock? looking for low g's

You just hijacked the thread, but I forgive you. :p

It brings up a related topic.

There is very little difference in diameter between the concert and tenor red strings, to the point where as far as I'm concerned they're interchangeable.

So, I see that Elderly is out of stock on tenor G's, but I wouldn't hesitate to put a concert red G on a tenor.

Similarly, the only place I've found to buy C strings is on Ebay, and the seller is out of tenor C's.
I'd have no worries about using a concert red C on a tenor, I'm not worried about a .02 mm difference in diameter.

One caution: I broke two red C strings trying to stretch them like they were white NylGuts. Don't make that mistake.

Fortunately, they broke by the tuning peg, so I was able to salvage them by using them on concerts without loop-around bridges.

thanks for the info, dave - didn't mean to hijack the thread. hehehe
