I have a couple of soprano ukes; doing fine with those.
But when I switch to my Lanikai concert, arrrgh! First fret barred chords are going dead. I'm careful not to touch the fret edges. When I start up playing, I'm "okay" - but the more I do, the worse I get at getting nice individual notes when barring chords at the 1st fret. I've tried moving my finger forward, dropping wrist, etc, etc.
I just got the action lowered last week or so - and it helped somewhat. (The action was very high out of the box). But still, not doing as well as I'd like. (It can't be lowered any more without risking buzzing).
On the other hand, I once played an Ohana concert size (Ebay transaction, I ended up returning it; long story, but not a dreadful story at all). And that seemed so easy...
Is it possible that it's just that particular Lanikai, or do I just need to work with it some more?
I've been playing piano for over thirty years - and I do realize the playing the uke is different, but is my hand really that weak?
P.S./Edit:-I've been playing uke for a year, on and off.
Thanks for any input, suggestions, etc.
