Aloha,

I've been slowly falling in love thinking about buying the KALA KA-S6E, a 6 string tenor, and I'm somewhere in between a 'picker' and a 'strummer'. Is a 6 string uke too tough to pick? I've played around with an 8-string tenor and I wasn't able to pick around on it, but I feel like the space on a 6-string would be easier.

Has anybody ever played the ka-s6e? If so, what do you think about it, and can you pick it?

Thanks!

Any stores in your area to try one?

That is a shame. Hopefully some others will chime in. I think it is like anything though - it might be a little difficult at first but with some time and practice you will be fine. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Here's my 2 cents.
I play a mix of strum and picking. I have my 6 string tuned with unison high "A's". I find I can play a melody and pick just fine.
I like the sound of a 6 string with a low "A" when strummed. In fact I played a Lanakai tuned that way last night in a shop and really liked the sound.
When I tried a melody however it was pretty bad when I hit that low "A".
So my dilemma is how do I tune octave or unison "A" ?
