In 1974, my father dissected a domestic box turtle as part of a college course. Decades later, its shell reemerges as the main part of the "Turtle Shell Ukulele"!
The neck is soprano scale and is made of maple (with a scarf joint attaching the slotted headstock). The space between the neck and the shell serves as the sound hole. The top is a piece of poplar that I had laying around.
