At NAMM 2012 Kanilea showed some new Islanders. They have a spalted maple, rosewood spruce top, and Acacia model coming - although I think they are all laminates. I was talking today to George Kay who sells a lot of Islanders, and he told me he expects to have the new ones in the shop in about 3 weeks. The next batch of Kanileas are coming too.

kaysax, that sounds good. I keep hearing good things about Islanders! I've only seen one, and it sounded great.

If you havn't played one you should give them a try. With the 1.5" nut and the same dimensions as a Kanile'a, they really feel and sound like a higher end uke.

I have an Islander laminate mahogany concert, and it's great. I have a Kanilea Concert and and Tenor, but I like the Islander as a uke I don't have to worry about. I'm tempted to get some of the new woods, just for the heck of it even though I don't expect them to be that different from what I have.
