I put D'Addarios on one of my sopranos not so long ago and I've got kind of a mixed reaction overall to the strings. They seem to have a pretty good attack and more mids than the Hilo blacks that I replaced them with, but they don't seem to sustain that well.
I fingerpick so there's a nice initial plunk but then it trails off rather quickly after that. Certainly much faster than the Aquilas on my concerts. But I do like the tone range. So I kind of vacillate a bit on whether or not I like them.
I'll probably end up keeping them on there for a while longer before I swap them out. They're not necessarily bad strings, but perhaps not the droids I was looking for.
Meanwhile I've got a pack of Roto-Sound Lagunas to try (the Roto-Sound Reds are my favorite guitar strings. Haven't played guitar though in months...) slated for the other soprano as soon as I get around to it and a couple of packs of Worth medium clears that at some point I'm going to slap on all four ukes at once and do a compare and contrast amongst them all with the same strings of the same age.
