Haven't picked up a guitar in 30 years. I played a little in High School and into college years, but was never very good or passionate enough about music to get into music theory. I had to figure out other ways to get the girls attention. I sold my last guitar, a Yahama 12 string, years ago and basically became a music listener.
Fast forward 30 years and I pick up a uke and low and behold, the fingers still remember and 'listen' when I say 'press here'. The chords have been relatively easy to pick up and I'm having fun.
Now, on to investing time in some basic music theory. It's not easy to wrap my head around, but there are so many great teachers online who 'splain things in a way that doesn't intimidate me. Working on that has been challenging but I'm old enough to be more patient now.
Hopefully, the fingers on my right hand will get with the program as I try fingerpicking.
Thanks to all on this forum and the online teachers who make a difference for us noobs.
To noobs who don't have the muscle memory developed.. this old dog proves that it pays to keep practicing and you will get there quicker than you think.
