Hi everyone first post. Been skulking about the forum, so decided to post my opinion of starter ukues. I've bought alot of cheap end laminates and solids but the tk-55 or at least the one I bought is arguably the best laminate i've ever played. I'm not a solid wood snob but when playing soft can't beat solid for tone. But the makai is loud and clear and intonation is great. Thinking about buying another one just in case. Its better than my Kala solid acacia for clarity and volume. neck is comfy and easy to bar chord, good action and great for finger picking and strumming. You can really hammer down on it and it sounds even better! For 85.00 its better than a pocket on a shirt. Just sayin' Dismount in Oklahoma
