I just bought on Kijiji a week ago a Riptide tenor UT-5NS. A rosewood fingerboard and bridge. 18 frets, 36mm at the nut, 50mm at the saddle string tie termination. Nice lutherie throughout, if you look inside you will see 3 very nicely thinned and tapered soundboard struts running towards the tail block. Solid mahogany neck and laminated mahogany top, back, and sides. Laminate is beautiful and the 2.5mm thickness makes this ukulele so very light and responsive.
The satin finish is superb. The neck is a dream. The tuners are chrome with orange buttons. Do I like the sound and playability.? You betcha. As I have said many times " you play Before you pay" I have always done so then no one, the seller or the buyer, needs to be dissappointed. It did not have a case from the seller on Kijiji. The tenor model with the pickup has some bling I believe but everything else is the same as the model without the bling and pickup.
What model were you looking at in Guitar Center please?
Jim
PS: It was made by a craftsman in China. The folks at Boulder Creek Guitars are to be congratulated on quality control.
