What are everyone's favorite spruce top baritones?

I used to have an Oscar Schmidt but it's in really bad shape. I bought it about five years ago when I knew NOTHING about the physics of musical instruments, and the neck got a little bowed.

Since then, I've had two more baritones - both mahogany - and neither of them did it for me. I like my baritones bright and I don't think that will ever change. So I think I'm going to buy a new spruce one. So what are everyone's favorites?

I have one of the solid spruce top/flame maple Kalas. It is one of the nicest sounding baritones I have ever played (FWIW, I don't see that many baritones in the wild, so I've never played/heard any of the fancy brands). It really sings, and isn't boomy like some of the other linear tuned spruce tops I've seen.

Thanks, skitzic! Do you have any videos/sound recordings of it?

No, I don't. A youtube search brought up...fighting videos? :wtf:

Maybe give Mim a call? She's usually not afraid to play something over the phone for someone.

Good luck in your search!
