I would love to help but when I went to vote I was asked to download a FB app that was going to use my personal information for stuff.

oh really? yeah, I think I had to accept that FB app, but they don't spam or anything like that and I can't imagine they would use you information for any bad purposes. But I completely understand where you are coming from and thank you for trying.
