Can some one tell me why all the D7 chords have white circles in this song book I googled http://www.ukuke.co.uk/Ukulele%20Christmas%20Song%20Book.pdf Also I printed out a student ukulele chord chart & some of the chords have white circles, are they something I need not worry about as a beginner?

It's another fingering option. D7 can be played 2020 or 2223

Ok, thanks..I just thought it was weird because out of all those songs it was only on D7 chords. Thanks again..

It's funny because the 2020 doesn't even contain a D. :D

As a beginner, I would highly recommend using the fingerings illustrated in the chord charts. This chord chart (www.ukalady.com/Images/UkeChart.pdf) shows chords as they should be played and the white dots indicate alternate fingerings. In this particular case, they show the normal fingering to be the alternate and the alternate holding to be the basic chord. What is shown (2020) is an alternate and the holding for D7 is 2223.

There was a post regarding this, I'll see if I can locate it. Basically the gist of the post was regarding the D7 chord and someone mentioned "Hawaiian D7" which is supposedly held that way. I've seen played that way, but I hold 2023. You can do that with some chords and it works.

Ok cool, that's the exact chord chart I printed out a couple of months ago & I have been going by the black dots for the songs I have learned so far. Thanks for the info..
