I have a delightful little 21" long x 71/4" skin head Hollywood banjo ukulele. I am not fond of the original friction tuners, but I do not want to mess with a potentially collectable instrument if its greater value is to just leave it as it is, and rehome it to someone else. That leads to another question of fair market value, if consensus is "it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Yep, I'll deny I ever said it, but sometimes better is not better. wdt

Maybe you can switch out the tuners for Pegheads without changing the holes. You could check with one of the luthiers on this site.

Nope, friction tuners have a straight bore, PEGHEDS have a tapered bore. The bore of these tuners are 5mm, which is slightly less than 1/4 inch. The smallest diameter PEGHED is 7mm a little bigger than9/32 at the top of the headstock. which makes it even wider at the back. I don't just distribute them, I also install them. Thank you for the suggestion, Lori.
