1929. music Nacio Herb Brown; lyrics Arthur Freed.

an enduring popular standard, much loved and widely covered. It has been recorded by numerous artists, Cliff Edwards, Judy Garland and Sammy Davis Jr notable among them. The song became most famous when Gene Kelly danced to it in the 1952 of the same title, in one of the most memorable sequences in movie history. The song also made an infamous appearance in Kubrick's 1971 film, 'A Clockwork Orange'. More recently it was sung by cast members on the TV series Glee, during an episode in 2010.

Here's yet another bash on a soprano, totally inspired by hearing the Doc do a smokin baritone take a few months back... :o

So good mate, an absolute cracker. Also love the tones of green throughout the shot, very cool indeed, if that crinkley bit of corro behind you could only talk, he'd have a story to tell.

You definitely made this one your own, how could it not bring a smile?

One thing to keep in mind about "dislikes" is that they are really more about the person doing the disliking -- YouTube uses these (along with "likes") to filter which videos to put in their "suggested" and "related video" lists. So anybody who "dislikes" one of yours is really just cutting off their nose to spite their face, because they will then be less likely to come across your other gems.

Don't sweat it Jon, you're still awesome! My Fleetwood Mac cover used for a bonus track on the 31st season already has two dislikes, a first for me too. Ah well you can't please everyone!

Last year, I had a YouTube comment that was very insulting about my singing. (Hey, I have to listen to it more than you!) I clicked on the guy's username, which showed all of his recent activity. The post was the only post of several he'd made that evening that didn't have to do with porn! So on reflection, I considered it a huge compliment that he took a few minutes off from looking for/at naked women just to watch my video.

cheers you guys. Yeah I was a bit shocked when I checked the clip a couple of hours after I put it up and there were 2 dislikes...I'm over it now. It goes with the turf I guess, whenever you put yourself out there you're a target. And as Ken reminded me too, some folks have one rigid lens through which they see a song and you kinda have to do it exactly like the original otherwise it sucks. I think many people see this song as forever linked to the film and therefore to Gene Kelly's version which didn't come out until the 50's. But my take is much closer to Cliff Edwards' take which predates that film by more than 20 years!

In a german ukulele forum there once was a very funny thread where everyone put in the worst comments they ever got on youtube. Maybe we should start this on the UU too. We always have two "regular" dislikes from Germany, no matter what the video is/was like. Don't care about the dislikes, your rendition is just great! We like it!

Haters gonna hate - it's their problem. Ooops, I just remembered that Mike from Mainland's last name is Hater, obviously, this is not in reference to him. LOL

Seriously, there are people who seem to have nothing better to do than roam around YouTube trying to pull other people down. Invariably, when you visit their "channel" you find that they haven't uploaded squat!

Don't worry about dislikes. You can't please everybody. Just play, have fun, trust your own ability. In my career as professional musician, I have played to packed houses where I've received standing ovations. At other times, I've been up against audiences who didn't care at all about what I played. You never know what to expect when you walk out on a stage, and the same goes for youtube videos. The main thing is to be true to yourself. Then there is always someone somewhere - and probably many more than you think - who loves what you're doing.

two dislikes in 5 mintues? Sounds like a mistake to me - someone probably hitting the wrong button on YouTube.... I mean, what's not to like? I've found that the folks who respond that quickly to a video I post are friends, family, and the regular subscribers who are generally 'fans' - I don't think any of those folks would dislike this.... and as Doc and others have said - if someone seriously disliked it..... well, their taste is obviously bad enough that you don't need to give it a second thought - a 'dislike' in this instance borders on the irrational.....
