I would like to purchase a wooden, tenor resonator uke.
1) Do you have any recommendations as to which one to purchase (and web site if available)?
2) Do you happen to know how a wooden tenor resonator uke compares to non-wooden tenor, resonator ukes, such as the highly recommended ones made by Beltona in New Zealand?
Thanks.

I ran across this one a few months back. It's a Mya-Moe' Tenor resonator made of Mango and available at Elderly (http://www.elderly.com/new_instruments/items/MYA2.htm). Unfortunately, I have no experience with a Resonator and can't make a recommendation.

Go to Pete Howletts website: uklectic.com

He makes a beautiful wooden resonator - sound sample here:

His instruments are supposed to be top notch! sure sounds like they are.

Thanks for pointing our attention to the Mya-Moe Kanaka916. I haven't heard of them before. Looks like a very nice Tenor resonator. Has anyone one the board tried one or read any reviews?

Elderly has Nationals-- They're pricey, but everyone who has one says they can't be beat.

Note though that Pete's prototype has a different reso cone than he'll be using for his production reso's... and the cone makes a huge difference in the tone.

You could also try Peter Hurney of Pohaku Ukuleles in Berkeley, CA:
http://www.pohakuukulele.com/pages/ukuleles.html
His ukes are custom made.

Then there are the Mya Moe' tenor reso's in stock at elderly.com. Don't know anything about them but they shure look cool:

It's pretty hard to find tenor resonator ukes so those Mya Moe's look pretty attractive even at $1250 a bop! Otherwise there are the less expensive and very wonderful Beltona Songster Tenor Resonator ukes.

If you're interested in a Beltona Songster Resonator uke, let me know...

I you can afford a Phillips Reso ( metalgitar.com ) thats the one.. but for a wood Reso, this one from Russ Morin looks and sounds sweet. (http://www.russmorin.com/green2.html) .
