I went by a local guitar shop and checked out if they had uke strings. D'Addario were in the wrong size, but they had Martin strings for soprano/concert and I got a pack to try out.
I got home and looked closer at the box: They show a set tuned to BF#DA, rather than the re-entrant tuning I actually wanted.
Can I tune these strings to re-entrant, or would they just not be playing at their best tension and should I just return them?

Thanks,
Craig

Shouldn't be a problem. It's just a step down to tune it GCEA.

Used to be that the standard tuning for a soprano was considered ADF#B (or as I remember it "All Dogs Find Sharp Bones) It's a bit less common these days. I keep one soprano tuned that way for the ease of being able to sing in that key which is more forgiving to my croak.

ADF#B is just GCEA up a whole step. It's still re-entrant. Any strings that specify ADF#B work just fine for GCEA.
