I Have tried Aquila Reds Low G and I loved it. String broke after 3 days so have ordered more but: After hearing what they sounded like on the 4 string tenor -- could the same string be used on a Lilu as a low A. Thanks Sumppump

the company is called Aquila, with a Q. A-kee-la.

OT: probably you can tune it a note sharp, I'd guess.

Tried the red Aquila string in low A position. Worked ok but I still had the low A thump.

Elderly Instruments also has them. They are only available as individual strings (low G for soprano through tenor, and G and low D for baritone) and not as a set. They are only intended for lower notes/tones/what have you (designed as a replacement for wound strings) and so wouldn't be available for higher tones like a high G.

Trademark is AURORA (more info in I-net). They are available in different sizes (and colours), at least soprano/concert, e.g. google search "aquila red aurora" gave

I bought them in red in .de for my DIY Luciolele (luciole=firefly in french). Lucy's here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYHJpiw-A9A

IMO sound is minimal worse than normal Aquilas.

I also have Aurora red strings but they are just part of a colored string set. Mine are not the same as the Aquila reds.

For those wondering what the string is like. it is a cross between a rubber band and paper. it has a nice deep sound that you don't get from any other low G string. They just stretch (and break) like no other

Beware, it's a bit confusing but the Aurora coloured strings (although also made by Aquila) and the Aquila Reds are not the same thing. One are a red-coloured set of regular Aquilas, the other is a single low string in a different material, which is meant to replace a wound string on a low 4th strung uke.

The new ones do not: http://www.ukuleleunderground.com/forum/showthread.php?70501-NEW-formulation-Aquila-Red-Series-Strings!

New formulation settles much more like a regular white Aquila, a bit softer feel, and a really great sound, but no more spaghetti stretching and breaking.
