I just bout a National NRP uke and I'm going to want to put geared tuners of some sort on it. I'm leaning towards pegheds, based on looks and my experience with them on a banjo that I own.

I've built a few guitars and I'm working on two tenor ukuleles, so I have all the tools I could need, including a standard 2 degree reamer.

I know from the measurements of the Gotoh friction tuners on the Stew-mac site that I'll probably need 8mm pegheds and will have to slightly ream the extant tuner holes.

Has anyone replaced Gotoh tuners with (say) Waverly or some other geared tuner? If there's an option for a geared (guitar-type) tuner that doesn't require me to modify the holes, I would consider going that direction.
