i'd hate to say it, but i dont think you should play untill it heals up. Worst case scenario you could injure yourself even more if you try and that healing process may take longer!

anyway in answer to deach's question it is my left arm (i'm right handed) and the cast only goes up to the elbow.
maybe practice plucking/picking (idk what the right term is haha) while it heals? Thought you wont be playing music.. but ya know, it's good to practice plucking/picking.
My Psych teacher had these guitar and bass plucking things that helped you practice plucking without having your guitar or bass with you. I did a search on them and found this: http://www.freepatentsonline.com/5811704.html
idk if he made it himself but yea they were pretty handy and cool. He let us pluck away during class and such.
