I've been having a blast building gigs, milling up lumber, trial and error bending. Today and yesterday I was working on kerfings. Wow pain in the neck. I've always been partial to kerfed linings as opposed to solid. Looks and tradition I guess.

Now that I've made a few runs of kerfed I'll think I'll try solid (that will not be for a little bit, I have to finish my first prototype.)

So from forum searches I gather that it's easier and makes for a louder instrument.

I haven't really seen cons to solid, any one have any?

My kerfings would not conform without cracking, maybe the junk wood I'm using for tests or how thin/thick I'm cutting it.

My only other concern about solid was how thick do you make it? I've read on the forum that some use the same as side thickness, is that enough for a solid joint? The kerfing on my guitars and ukes look a little more stout.
