A recent (June 2012) all mahogany soprano ukulele built in a vintage style by luthier David Newton is up for sale. This is in as-new condition including one slight cosmetic line on A-string side of uke (under the finish, see pic 3). This might be the lightest uke I have ever held. It has rosewood violin peg tuners that work exceptionally well, a flush fretboard that is an integral part of the mahogany neck, ebony nut & saddle, Aquila strings, Gloss finish. A beautiful example of simplicity and elegance in design, built by an accomplished luthier.
The uke is very light, loud, and resonant, with a very pleasant old-time sound. The scale is about 13-7/8 inch, so it is a bit larger than most sopranos. I have several wonderful sopranos, so I am making tough choices and thinning the heard to make some room. Not a 100% sure I want to part with it. But here it is.
SOLD !
