View Full Version : Strap keeps slipping off electric pick up jack

I have had a pick up installed in each of my ukes. The pick up jack is over sized so a regular guitar strap won't fit over it and when I trim it so it fits then it wants to slip off. I know most don't use straps and the normal uke straps like classical guitar sound hole straps I don't like. Any one else have a solution?

At my local gitar shop, I picked up a couple of things made by Dunlop that go over the end pin on the outside of the strap, and then rotate sut. Can't recall what they are called, but I bought them when I got an electric guitar that was (for me) fairly expensive. It should work on a pickup jack, as well.

Again, don't recall what they are called (and I'm on the opposite coast so I can't just go get one), but it is something a decent music store should have - maybe even GC, if you don't have a decent shop around.

This thread may help. Lots of similar threads on the guitar forums. Perhaps the tapastring. I think the last poster may have been referring to strap locks. I am certainly no expert on this, but hope it helps.

Yeah! Strap Locks! That's what they are called!

I use one of those "strap keepers" for mine. Large end pin jack. They hold so well, they are kind of a bear to get back off to remove the strap when putting the uke back in its case.

However when installed, the strap is extremely secure. $10.00 buy through Tapstring or

I offer Guitar Style Straps for ukuleles (by Uke Leash), with either a standard button or amp sized button. The hole for the amp button is 0.4 inches. If you need something different than that, I can do custom size holes.

When I get a uke with an end pin jack, I'll try one.

Also, Lori at Uke Leash has leather ;in strap s, and will punch whatever sized hole is needed, if you ask her.

I take a strap with a leather end and soak it in warm water.
I then place an "AA" battery through the hole and let it dry.
The hole will be stretched enough to fit over the end pin jack.
I have had good luck with this method.
