Topics: Crime, Weird TweetShare on printPrint Share on emailE-mail A shoplifter who tried to steal some beer from a West Seattle convenience store beat a store employee who tried to stop him with – of all things – a ukulele.

Police report a man and woman, both believed to be in their 20's, walked into a gas station near Delridge Way and Myrtle Street around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday and tried to steal a six-pack of Olde English beer.

A store employee confronted the thieves, ordered them to put the beer back and then told them he was calling 911.

The man argued with the employee and then hit him over the head with a ukulele, shattering the instrument and cutting the employee's scalp.

When officers arrived at the store they found the employee bleeding profusely from the back of his head. The thieves had run away.

Officers were only able to get a vague description of the robbers from the victim – who was taken to Highline Medical Center for treatment.

The Seattle Police Department Robbery Unit continues to investigate this crime.

one way or the other, the ukulele is a 'hit' :)

Sorry.

keep uke'in',

I wonder if the victim would have been less injured if the perp tuned up before he went in the store...................?
