Dont know were you are located, but i also started on a hilo. I just picked up a lanikai acoustic electric. got it from a laocal shop by my house. dont really like buying instruments online just because they get damaged and you dont get to play and hear the instrument you are buying.....
Just something to think about...

talk to NukeDoc, but MusicGuyMic from eBay is really good with deals on ukes, and musicansfriend.com is a good website too.

check out freedom guitar center off of el cajon blvd and college ave. if they dont have anything you like on display.they can go ahead and order you something from their retailers. their prices are great also. i ordered a kala concer ukulele that goes for about 130 and i only paid 100 for it. so yea, you might want to check them out.

If it's going to be concert-sized, then a Kala or Lanikai should be in your price-range (http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&dfsp=1&from=R10&_trksid=m37&satitle=%28lanikai%2C+kala%29+concert+ukulele&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=94588&sabfmts=1&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1%26fsoo%3D1&coaction=compare&copagenum=1&coentrypage=search). That link will show what's available on eBay.

This is what musicguymike sells (http://search.stores.ebay.com/Musicguymics-Room_concert-ukulele_W0QQfciZQ2d1QQfclZ3QQfsnZMusicguymicQ27sQ2 0RoomQQfsooZ2QQfsopZ3QQsaselZ34517586QQsofpZ0), sorted by price. Most of the ukes come with extras. If you can find an extra $100, you could get the Pono mahogany concert.

This one just might be what you're looking for. (http://cgi.ebay.com/KALA-SOLID-SRUCETOP-FLAME-MAPLE-CONCERT-UKULELE-w-case_W0QQitemZ230226770526QQihZ013QQcategoryZ16224 QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1713.m153.l1262)
