So I am a complete uke newbie.

I was wondering what was the first song that you learned? why did you choose that as your first song? and how did you learn it (friend, YouTube, tab, guitar songbook, etc)?

I learned my first uke song September 1st, 1951 when my Dad gave me his pre-war Martin O for my Birthday. It was the only song he taught me and it took me nearly 50 years to learn some more....it was "Yes Sir, That's my Baby."

bad moon rising for me, the song fitted some of the first chords i learnt,
G D C F

Drop, Baby, Drop

The first I learned was Two of Us by the beatles and I looked up the chords online, but the song I do with most of my beginners is I'm a Believer by the Monkees. It's not too hard, but has more than the 4 chord pattern, and most everyone's heard it before.

Lil'l Liza Jane. :) just two chords and only 4 changes, C and F. First song to learn in the ukulele for dummies book.

twinkle twinkle little star was my first song

I would have thought some people would learn traditional hawaiian songs first.

That is what I want to learn. Except I dont know any traditional hawaiian songs... haha

Bad Moon Rising. Because its awesome, and easy to play.
