Slide Tenor Guitar?

I haven't been playing my vintage Stella tenor guitar . I saw someone perform with a 3 string cigar box,and I thought wow, I might be able to do that with my tenor. well it turns out, there are a lot of people doing just that. I researched it a bit, and seems some folks are using open tuning, DADA and CGCG. i HAVE mine tuned like a bari, DGBE, Are there advantages to the open tunings, or can I play slide just fine like it is, that way I can use the regular. chord shapes.any suggestions for srring guages if I open tune? I am really attracted to the slide sound. this guy sounds pretty good. wonder how his is tuned?

I've seen that guy's videos before. I love the look of that guitar.
You could tune to DGBD and use banjo chords. That's an open tuning (G chord) so you can slide on all the strings at the same time.

You can also use that tuning with slack key ukulele notation or tablature, but it will be in the key of G instead of C. That is if you can make that 7th chord spread - 0214 .
