What ukulele(s) you expect to have this new year?

I wanted to have a concert Kiwaya in 2013. Just mellow sounds...

Well, on January 2nd I expect this to be delivered:

http://www.ukuleleunderground.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=46706&d=1356425002

VINTAGE MARTIN STYLE 1 c. 40s or 50s

Then, in an embarrassment of riches, by January 3 this should be in my hands:

http://www.ukuleleunderground.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=46887&d=1356943929

NEW, MARTIN STYLE 2

In April, for my 59th Birthday, I'd like a Martin OXK.

I'm "sort of looking" for a Pono ABD bari to string up reentrant as cousin to my MBD. At some point I want a Mya Moe mahogany longneck soprano (would settle for a KoAlana if they made them) and Mya Moe concert resonator but those are long-term goals and I doubt that I'll get either one this year.

Those three are all I need to fill out my stable with everything I want in ukes - but that doesn't mean I won't pick up something else along the way if it catches my eye... (ooooh...look at the shiney thing!) LOL

No new ones for 2013. I was going to treat myself to a custom that would be ready when I graduate from nursing school this summer, but right now I can barely afford to re-string my current ukes. :(

I have a Mya-Moe chocolate heart mango tenor coming the first week in March (being built 01/29 - 02/27/13), and a Mya-Moe pheasantwood tbd (probably a concert) scheduled to be built 05/18 - 06/24/13. I'll probably also be distracted along the way by one of the new Martins that people seem to like so much.

If it's a Martin built ukulele I want it........vintage or new! Now what I might run across and can afford this coming year??? I do have a list, but I don't want to jinx my chances :)

I've ordered a Mya-Moe six-string baritone that's scheduled to be completed in April, and I've made a deposit on a Compass Rose sprucetop baritone with Amazon rosewood sides and back with an unknown completion date, I hope in 2013. I 'm also hoping to order an Anakoneke ukulele in the next few weeks. I have no other acquisition plans, although something may come up unexpectedly, although under a recently adopted one-in-one-out policy, I expect to be selling a few.

I only really play one of my ukuleles right now so I will probably try to trade a couple of others and maybe pick up a pineapple or some other tropical flavour. I would like an old banjo uke as well, but once my wife hears it it would likely lead to the end of my strumming and quite possibly my life.

If you asked me this time last year I would have looked at you funny and wondered why are you asking me about ukuleles. Never picked one up in my life.

Now I own four. Plus I briefly owned two others that I sold.

You never know what might happen.

I anticipate having the 12 ukuleles listed in my Sig line in 2013, although I may finally get around to listing one of the Epiphones for sale.

Beyond that - I'm hoping for a custom, a resonator, another banjo uke....

We'll see what the finances and future hold, and whether or not there's any action in the arm surgery area.

I have two ukes already paid for on their way: a Pono Acacia baritone from HMS that is getting a special treatment in Cloverdale, California (more on that soon!) and a Mainland Red Cedar tenor on back-order from Uke Republic. Although it's been months since I last purchased a new uke, I'm actually not feeling the urge to get any new ones after these two. The only additional ukes I'd ever fancy getting one day are way out of my price bracket anyway (a vintage Martin... a K-brand... a Mya-Moe...) and tbh I think they'd feel very much superfluous.
Looks my UAS is cured! Hurray!! Next goal: play as good as HMS Corey! (wishing myself good luck with that haha) :)

I suspect I'll end up with a tenor tuned low 'G' at some point. I'll try to do a cigar box build if possible. I have a box already, come to think of it. First I need to build a 2 string slide bass and perhaps redo the neck on my 3 string slide CBG.

I won a little on the lottery in December - so I have ordered a fun Uke that I have coveted for some time - The Epiphone Les Paul. I have been inspired by Ginga Yin (on the Seasons) to explore using pedals with a Uke - so that one seems to be the best intro model into the world of amplified Ukes.

My birthday present to myself this year will probably be an Ohana CK-35 GS. I've sold my Black Lanikai to a local acoustic band (will remove it from my list when they actually pay me - it's on loan at the moment) and will add the extra cash to get the Ohana).

Should I come into any other unexpected cash, I'd consider an 8 string and the fun Guitarlele that I play every time I go to a local music shop.

Well, my new year's resolution was to not buy any ukes in 2013, and instead pay off the credit card balance that resulted from all the ukes I bought in 2012.

Alas, the new year wasn't a week old when I saw a pretty little thing in mango, and was hopelessly smitten by her beauty. So a new Maestro Mango Concert uke will be making its way across the vast Pacific Ocean to me, hopefully to arrive next week.

After this one, there will be no more new ukes in 2013! Except maybe a Mainland uke or two, and unless I go to Summer NAMM again and see something I can't live without... :)

I'm trying to find a justification, given all the higher-end tenors I already have. Maybe being part of the group Toni, Toni, Toni is justification enough. Toni doesn't live far from me. I'm going to arrange to meet with her and ask her to bring along an ukulele or two of hers that I can play. But after the way Stan raved about his, it might be hard to pass one up.

I hope (not expect) to have another concert uke. Not an expensive one, just something like a Kala mahogany or thereabouts. It's my favourite size, and I haven't had one in ages. I get by playing my wife's soprano, but I'd love a concert uke of my own again. :)

I'll see how the year works out...

I'm finally about to find out what's the big deal with these Makala dolphins--my wife didn't give me any argument upon realizing that a) her Christmas present to me is under $50 and b) it's her favorite color--red.
Looking forward to some fun in a few days!

Oh--and I justified it with a very good reason! I left the Cordoba concert in NC with my father, a lifelong guitar player who, at age 75, recently had a stroke that is requiring extensive physical therapy to regain voluntary use of his right hand. Reasoning that a uke will be easier to strum than his beloved classical guitar, I left it there at Christmas with a promise of free Skype lessons whenever he's ready. I think I've earned a dolphin...

I had NO intentions of getting another uke. Until I happened upon this link. I swear, it's the reason I just had to take advantage of HMS' great deal on a Kala acacia travel tenor today. For grins, Andrew's stringing it low G for me, just for a change of pace.

In 2012 I sold two ukes, and gave one away to my daughter. It's like a clearinghouse here! But I will always have the Kanile'a and the Kamaka. And now the third slot on the wall hanger gets to hold a Kala.

UAS strikes again . . .

You have definitely earned a Dolphin. I think they're just very friendly. Unpretentious. You can drop them a bit. They're forgiving on all levels.

If I'm lucky, I hope to convince my wife I need a Fluke (tenor neck, pickup and surf design). Given that I bought 5 in 2012, I'm having more trouble with that all the time. Long term I also want to get a banjolele, a solidbody and a Mya-moe, but I need to be a better player to justify the Mya-moe.

I have a Compass Rose tenor coming sometime in 2013. Sequoia top, walnut back, neck and sides.

That acquisition will satisfy my UAS for quite a while.

I plan to start building my crappy, but made by me, ukulele's after I get my CR.

I might take Rick's class one more time before that though. I'd love to take Allen's class in Australia or Mike DaSilva's in the East Bay but it's hard to pass up the knowledge and experience that Rick has.

Until you decide you need a Compass Rose baritone, or another Compass Rose tenor, only this time with a spruce top, or maybe koa ....

I've seen two ukes built in those Hanalima classes and both of them were beautiful and sounded great.

. . . and to actually answer the OP, as was alluded to in an earlier post, I should be receiving a custom Compass Rose tenor (adi spruce top/cherry back and sides). I would think before the end of the month or shortly after the NAMM show.

Now I need to make time to practice :)

A great question. If I continue to improve, I am thinking about treating myself to a Covered Bridge uke this year. I love both their myrtle and claro walnut ukes. If not, I will try hard to not increase my current uke collection too much. It already far exceeds my ability.
