I possibly have a gig next August as a 1940's comedian, Max Miller inuendo style.
I had a clearout earlier 2012 and threw away a load of music inherited from my mum's house. 'Never need that thought I'.
Anyway, I'm in need of some sheet music, with GCEA uke chords, from the 1940's, WWII, era.
Preferably funny but also sentimental.

All help gratefully received and thanks in advance.;)

Thanks for that, some useful sources there. Most of those are American 20's - 30's and that's mainly what I come up with when I google it.
What I'm after is UK wartime songs. I want to avoid the obvious of George Formby because there's already a Formby impersonator who attends the function.

I started Uke last year but never really played it much because of work commitments. Now I'm semi-retired so I want to give more time to it, hence back active on this forum.
I will order that songbook anyway.
Having said that, I think I've just found a source in the Tony Shuker music collection.

Worthing Ukulele Jam has a songbook called "Hits of the Blitz." It has some good WWII songs. They're here: http://wukulele.com/

You should also check out Dr. Uke; he has lots of old songs, many from that era. http://www.doctoruke.com/songs.html

The 'Blitz' songbook is great thanks. I didn't know about that site. I've managed to source a Max Miller songbook which should be with me in a few days so I'd better get rehearsing.
Thanks everyone.

Drop me an email or a PM with your email address and I'll send your the spreadsheet with all the tunes in the DVD collection. There are about 8,000 or so, mostly from 1924-36, but many from the 40s as well.
