The Ukelites recent version of this jumped out for me, since I also recently did this one for season 39. As with many of these older songs, several variations of the lyrics abound, mine is based on Fiona Apple's, which seems to be a mix of Ella's and Bessie Smith's. I added a little chord melody break near the end.

This was very cool. I love how loose you make this number feel.

sweet, Doug! Must have missed this one first time around, I think. Love the break at the end..... great arrangement!

Thanks, Bill, and thanks for the Flamin' Mamies link, great stuff.

Sweet work Doug, great arrangement and performance and as Bill said, the intrumental break is very cool.

Thanks, Cam. I transposed it to Db to try to take advantage of as much of the fretboard as possible.

This was very cool. I love how loose you make this number feel.

Thanks, I used some blue note slides and hammer-ons.

sophisticated chord choice as always! ;)

Thanks, William. It is a very interesting song, with an unusual 20 bar verse, and some really fun changes. The first recorded versions were done at very slow tempos, but the early jazz musicians realized that it works great at much faster tempos. Here's Benny Goodman taking it at a fairly blistering speed, with a little Disney animation.
