I was reading some threads recently on tuning a bari down to gCEA, an octave below standard tuning, and it struck me that it would be interesting to create a ukulele quartet using the gCEA and dGBE tunings in octaves thusly:
Sopranino or Sopranissimo:dGBE
Soprano or Concert: gCEA
Tenor: dGBE (octave below sopranino)
Baritone: gCEA (octave below soprano)
I don't have a sopranino/sopranissimo or a good enough bari to try it out on, but it's a neat dream. I wonder how it would sound? Perhaps too thick?
