Just got a great deal on Dean acoustic bass. I figured 4 strings that might be fun and kinda like my Ukes. Wow the thing is huge and the big wound strings don't think I like them at all. So I found some tape wound bass strings that people seem to like and are much smother. So waiting for a string change when they get here. Started looking for some online instruction. Lots of electric bass stuff but very little acoustic. Kinda disapointed not like all the Uke instruction that is available. Anyone have suggestions would be great. Thanks

the lessons you've found for electric bass will apply to acoustic bass guitar, no problem. Ed Friedland has a bunch of instructional books that are helpful and readily available. here's a good site to help you learn.

regarding strings, I had a set of Tomastik-Infeld bronze phosphor strings that were very nice once I got used to the low tension. they're rather pricey so I only bought them once but the other bronze phosphor strings I've used do the trick. the tape wound strings you're waiting on should be a good fit. I have a set on one of my electrics; they're easy on the fingers and sound good, too. enjoy your new instrument!

Hi Maineuker

I quite like http://learnbass.net/

I haven't investigated too much, but it seems to be a mix of video lessons, exercises, reviews and tabs for popular songs.
Hopefully, it's worth a look.

Good luck :)
