First post and first uke build. My daughter joined a ukulele band in San Francesco and bought a cheap mango uke. I just built her a BRW/red 00 40s and she loves it so I thought I might try a uke. Remembering I might have some parts I bought in the 1970s from North Street, I rummaged through a stash of wood in my barn and found this. I just ordered some master grade Koa from Hawaii for a concert for her which should arrive in a week but this soprano wood cleaned up nicely and with a bit of naphtha . I researched Martin style 3 and the wood is generally pretty plain. This is martin stock but seems better than most mahogany they used. At first I thought it was Koa but not sure now. How does this rate - I have no experience with Koa or figured mahogany other than pics I've viewed. Thanks Hilly 1964 and dick

Bob Gleason confirmed it is typical figured Koa from the period.
