Some of you know from a past thread that I name most of my ukes. This one was my first ukulele and served me well for the first three months of learning to play the uke. Unfortunately, it became unplayable sound wise after I started buying better ukes. Even my eleven year old son wouldn't play it after I got him a Flea. It's name was dogshit. But now he has been reincarnated as Little Ben.

A hole saw, some five minute epoxy, and a $5 clock movement has given him a new life. He now will always hang proudly next to me while I play my ukes. He will always be out in the room, even when the rest of my ukes are stored away in their humidified cases.

Great way to keep your first uke around all the time.

Cool music room too.

This is genius, ideal method of recycling!

What is going on with the orange uke on the far right?

Fully envious of your collection and wall hangers by the way!

There's an empty hanger.

Do you have one down to play, or are you waiting for the Next One?

Hey Kurt. There actually are two hangers open. And there is always room for more! :)

That is a Singing Treholipee. Made in the Sixties by Swagerty. You could stick the neck in the sand when you wanted to go out and catch a wave.

Be sure to humidify it, or it might develop a clef and read in split time.

Dana

When are you going to start making uke hangers to sell to your pals? :p

Dana

Well Daniel, I hadn't thought about that. I know that my stands are way too time consuming to make for sale, but the hangers are pretty easy. I just replaced the oak plates that come with the String Swing hangers with some eliptical ones that I made from Birdseye maple (although the one for the clock is more curly than Birdseye). I mounted that on a nice peice of ribbon striped mahogany and violla!

BTW, I like your new avatar!:)

Dana, what type of uke is the spruce one between the MBU and Boat? Spruce is my favorite tonewood.

That is a William King long scale tenor Daniel. Claro Walnut back and sides, Spruce top with a MiSi. Sahweeeeet sounding uke.
