This is an original song. I'm really happy with how it came out, and the way it fell together. A couple years ago, I wrote six lines of lyrics and forgot about them until I stumbled across them in November. A few days later, I came up with the first half of the lyrics. Last Wednesday, I sat down to work on the song but couldn't remember the melody I'd had in mind. Then I realized I had unused pieces of music that would work just fine, and I was so excited I think I epiphanied all over the room. The main theme is from an unfinished instrumental I had, and the part in 4/4 is from a song I wrote as a teenager in the late '70s. I cobbled them together like Dr. Frankenstein on Wed. night, and because I was already familiar with playing this music, it was ready to go before an audience at a Saturday open mic.
