Hello,
I was trying to re-string my uke over the weekend and I was having problems with the A-String. Its one of the saddles where you put in a knotted string. When I was tuning up the string, the knot kept poppin out of the saddle. I'm guessing the knot is too small; is the best way to create a double knot?

Thanks.

I use a figure of 8 knot like this.

I don't know if it's the best but it's what sailors put in the ends of ropes to stop the ends slipping through things. Essentially the same job.

Looking around that site I found - maybe this is superior

Ha! your genius. I have had the same problem. Just the other night that ol thin string did my forearm a dance.

yeah double knot will work fine, I did that the first time I restrung my tenor, and it never popped off.

for future reference however, use the fig8
