Email them, they will have one made for you. I think they only offer two colors now.

If you are interested in a gently used E3, PM me. I have a blue one I should sell since I bought the prototype of the 700 (the higher end model that still hasn't been sold as a production model, as far as I can tell) on the marketplace. It's a great instrument, super fun.

I thought those would have been huge by now! Wonder why they're so hard to find new lately. A lot were showing up used in the marketplace for a while too. Strange.

As you can see.... I have the only black evolve. I play it almost exclusively, at the moment. Sorry, but I don't expect I will ever sell it.

It is a very niche instrument, so I think that the build to order business model is probably best for Kamoa.

Doesn't Mim carry these? I was thinking she had a bunch of them coming in quite some time back...or did they all sell out?

John

I believe she sold out. I bought mine from her, as well.

The stores on Kauai are full of them, and I tried a few over there. If you want an electric Uke, buy a top quality Uke with a good pickup, or buy a Risa Les Paul Uke (or an Epiphone Mandobird 4), depending on what it is you're wanting the Uke for.

<edited out all the bad things I was going to say about Kamoa as a company>

None on her site at the moment, I already looked.

I sold out and had a few that needed to be sent back. Decided to wait a little bit and see what happened at NAMM. But Kamoa was not at NAMM. Should call soon and ask about them. I miss selling them. They are so rock n roll!

pm sent

It would seem a bit odd for a person in the land of ukuleles to buy one from the mainland, but I know Mike at UkeRepublic carries them.

yeah land of ukulele but these solid body ukes cant really find. i did find a Risa les paul at puapua for $800 so after tax should be like $850.
out of my budget , so by accidentally learned about kamoa on this forums. looking for a used one would be nice .

hey thanks for the link.

sweet how long have you had it and how would you rate the build quality and sound? thanks

The Epiphone 4-string Mandobird has a really good tone and great quality parts.
I loved the tone on it. However, the neck is very narrow (mandolin neck), so I didn't find it all that comfortable to play.
It can be done though - but it doesn't feel quite like a uke:

Risa are spectacular. They have several models - their Les Paul design in Soprano and Tenor, and a semi-hollow version in a "Bean" shape.
I play their Soprano Les Paul here:

I also had the Les Paul tenor, played for solos here and there in this song:

I also had their single-coil tenor (commonly referred to as the "Bean" due to the body shape)

(used as rhythm)

Risa's nylon string electrics are also fantastic.
I actually like Risa's nylon string electrics more than steel string electrics. They are easier to finger-style play. You can use them as both an acoustic-sounding uke and an electrified uke by tweaking the amp settings/effects.

If you're looking for a cheap steel string electric, consider this option:

It's Mahalo, so I'm not expecting fantastic quality, but it's cute and affordable! With the right setup, I think it could be useable. Heck, I might buy one some day just for fun!

want to thank grendal1972 for helping me get his E3, a great addition to my family that ill play for many years, Just a beautiful instrument. He went thru a heavy snow storm to get my uke out, what a guy, God bless and thank you.

Thanks for starting this thread. I was curious about these too and wondered why they seemed impossible to find. It's such a cool looking (and sounding) uke!
