What a Strange Trip

What a strange trip playing the uke has been.

Last Tuesday we played for an acquaintance on her 98th birthday (she was a singer and dancer that played uke in Miami in the later 30s). We started playing Dream by Johnny Mercer, and she says “I sing that song before I go to bed each night” and got all teared up.

Then today we were playing on the street and our ex-governor Mark Sanford walks up. We played Tax man blues when he left.

Sure beats watching TV.

This thread needs to be renamed "For those with ties to South Carolina!" Everyone else thinks we are off our rockers... which might be true, but not for this reason!

Not this South Carolinian, but if my Grandma played uke like she cooked, she'd be doing world tours. Her kitchen has a Michelin star.
