Before yesterday, I would have said the figure 8 shape. I fixed a friend of mine's old Kamaka Pineapple Soprano and strung it up yesterday with a set of Southcoast strings I had laying around. Man, I can't stop playing that little guy. And the shape feels so natural holding it. It sure gave me a whole new appreciation for the Pinapple shape.
What he said. (I almost never disagree with Ken about things ukulele.) But I do like what Rick Turner is doing with his line of "jumbo" style Compass Rose ukuleles, with the rounder lower bout.
