I was looking at the kamaka website, and they said they aren't taking any custom orders... I would love to get their 4 string koa tenor, but I need an active pickup, and they don't seem to make a standard model with a pickup. Does this mean I can't get one (new from factory) with a pickup right now?

Yeah dude you can get the tenor with an active pickup. They don't do custom orders but they do 'specials' which include different wood qualities, fretboards, inlay and pickups. I seem to recall passive pickups being an extra $120 but I can't remember how much their active ones are. Best plan is to give them a call or send them an email.
