I just git a Kamaka hf3a with two string courses on the second and fourth. Does anyone know the story on this? Sorry, it is an HF 36 A. It had octave E and G strings but the high E second broke.

It would help if you could post photos or provide a link to photos. It's easier for the Kamaka experts here to answer questions like this if they can see the instrument, including the label inside the soundhole.

You can see how the 1st and 3rd strings are paired, but if I count the strings that would be the 2nd and 4th.
