Play sax music on your ukulele

Here's a neat trick. You can use saxophone music and backing tracks with your ukulele. This is how you do it.

First tune your ukulele down a tone (F Bb D G). You can now play your ukulele using any tenor sax music and backing track (or clarinet, trumpet or soprano sax music). The printed chords above the sax part will work on the ukulele with the backing track and the music will be correct too.

If you are really a guitarist, you can play the ukulele using guitar chords and notes (in other words, think of the ukulele as a guitar). But to play along to the backing track you need to read the alto sax music and chords. Again you must tune your uke to F Bb D G.

There are so many professionally produced backing tracks now for wind instruments, but sadly, none (that I know of) for the ukulele.

Try it out. If you can't read music, at least the chords will work and you can sing along too.

Follow the chords above the sax music and they should work. The chords in the piano part can be played just using a normally-tuned ukulele.

I tried it out on the tune 'MISTY'. Here it is:

Have fun.
