Hey! I am looking into buying a tenor ukulele. Right now, I'm debating between a Lanikai Lu-21t ($78) and a Lanikai spruce top s-t ($179). Is there a big difference between quality and sound on these two? Also, any other suggestions for tenor ukulele's under $200?

I like both of the ukuleles you mentioned. The spruce is going to be bright, while the LU21-T will be warmer. Both are good entry-level ukuleles, and are also equipped with a lifetime warranty.

Remember that changing strings can brighten up a mellow uke a little and can mellow out a bright one.
In general, I think you will be happier with a solid topped uke over an all laminate one.

'm a big fan of the Lanikai sprucetops. Ive got a bari aND A TENOR. I also have a LU 21 8 string, and it is much nicer than I would have thought. You can get these really cheap as 2nds from Butler music on ebay. just go for the ones with the chips or flaws in the finish. stay away from the bad necks/buzzing strings.
here's a used one, shipping is high, but it's still a great deal if it doesn't go much higher.
