i dont know exactly what the differences would be but just by looking at the pictures and his descriptions, i'd have to say that the black sparkle is definitely more of novelty type of ukulele, whereas the other one is more of an beginner's ukulele. beginner's ukulele being a ukulele made for a person seriously trying to learn.

the black sparkle has a dolphin bridge and the type of wood used is not specified.

the plain one is said to be made of mohagany.

just out of preference, i'd go with the mohagany. the dolphin is just too much for me. lol.

Haha thanks. I like the black color but there wasn't a lot of description except for the dolphin lol. I might go with the pricier one since it does specify that it's mahogany and I've been reading a little but and read that it's thin and gives good vibration. Would like to hear from others also though.

Oh btw I'm sure many of you have bought from MGM, but how does it get packaged and delivered? I would assume that since it's low priced that it doesn't come with a case.

Between the two I would go with the mahogany one, if you found info on the sound of a mahogany uke they were probably talking about a solid uke like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/Kala-ka-asms-SO...16224QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262 My first uke was a $79 Kala, if I could do it over I would go for the solid mahogany instead.

Ehh too pricey for me. Until I get a job, I'll have to settle with one of those two or the $63 Kala Concert heh.

I never knew there were different "types" of mahogany.
Here's another $49 "ribbon grained mahogany" what does that mean?

And the concert that I'm looking at:

Ribbon they are talking about how the grain of the wood looks, you will see some that say curly as well.
