What a luxury to finally have my books and sheet right in front of me at eye-level :)
Nice and sturdy, and surprisingly inexpensive too.
(http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002FOBJY/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) I'm glad I didn't go with an unsteady, folding version.

I've had one for several years, & it is indeed an excellent, stable stand.

I've been balancing books on my knees for the last couple years :o

I have one like this (http://www.amazon.com/Belmonte-Orchestra-Stand-Deluxe-Black/dp/B000CDUDQG/) only in white.

A good, sturdy music stand is a great thing to have. The cheap, folding ones don't hold much weight and are easily knocked over.

Hubby got me a yellow Manhasset stand for our "steel" anniversary. So wonderful!!!!

Might look into one of those. Kinda enjoying standing in front of the bar, swaying to the rhythm. Got an uke leash coming tomorrow (hopefully), so no more sitting for barre chords. All I need is a drunk crowd...

This is what I use and it is fantastic! I play at the kitchen table mostly.

Now just wait until you get an iPad, the OnSong app, and a microphone-stand bracket for the iPad... :)

Seriously, a good, steady, and adjustable music stand is a huge asset. Any time you have to alter your posture to see the music it is going to affect your playing. Sometimes I use a music stand. Other times, when I have time to set up my Flip to shoot a video, instead of sitting in front of the web-cam, I tape the lead sheet to the tripod right under the camera. That way it looks like I'm looking at the camera while but the lead sheet is right in front of me.

If I could find the right bracket I'd love to be able to mount my camera to the top of my music stand...
